BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
Dr. Julieta Fierro is the Senior Researcher of the Institute of Astronomy in the UNAM and Professor at the Faculty of Sciences. She is the XXV member of the Mexican Academy of Language and member of the National System of Researchers at the top level.

Julieta Fierro works spreading science. She has worked for expositions in museums, written books and articles, participated in radio and TV broadcasts, designed science courses and given conferences.

She has received many national and international awards such as UNESCO’s Kalinga Prize, Klumpke-Roberts, and Primo Rovis, Legislative Assembly of the Federal District, Benito Juárez and Omecíhuatl medals. Laboratories, astronomical societies and three schools were named after her.
